Last July, among the many events dedicated to fashion, one in particular has contributed to shine the majestic Palermo thanks to the High Craftsmanship of Dolce & Gabbana. Four days – from 6th to 9th July – entirely dedicated to the excellence of Made in Sicily and which gave new splendor to the city with the presence of the famous fashion duo that has so honored the history of Sicily and Palermo itself.

Among the elements that characterize the history of the Sicilian capital there are applique and embroidery that well match to the bright colours. Even the black however takes on new meaning as an element of style and elegance. The kermesse has turned the landmarks of the host city into red carpets and open-air catwalks, welcoming over 450 distinguished guests.

For Dolce e Gabbana was the opportunity to present its collection of high women and men’s fashion which found space respectively in Piazza Pretoria in Palermo and in the small square in front of the Cathedral of Monreale. The inspiration for the design duo, once again, came from their home region.

The two creatives this time have decided to give their best experimenting with the Sicilian religious art tradition: masterpieces of embroidery crop up among tuxedo jackets. For the pants have been used rich fabrics, while also Jacquard fabrics made with sequins and Jais for jackets assert themselves with floral patterns that have found their perfect match with straw hats. From this point of view, the “novelty” was represented by luxury: instead of the classic band, a decoration of flowers made by hand and which has renewed the concept of Panama.

Among the must-see news also polychrome shaved fur and the use of treated alligator. The shirts and jackets were embellished with prints of the wonderful views of Monreale. On the men’s floor, men’s accessories have found space in the course of the High Craftsmanship, from rings, brooches, watches and accessories for smokers which have characterized the High male Jewelery presented at Palazzo Mazzarino. It is echoed by the High female Jewelry with coral necklaces, micro mosaics as necklaces with fruit and floral fantasies in precious polychrome stones and earrings that represent miniature chandeliers from traditional style. The two collections were of course an integral part of the fashion shows, telling the stories and faces of a strong Sicilian culture, rich in tradition but also in renovation.
