Dolce & Gabbana come back to Milano Fashion Week with a runway show that surprised the audience even before its beginning, when the bystanders have been asked to disable wi-fi. The background of the runway was a church gate. Fashion seen as devotion, so that it seemed to accompany the two designers in every moment of their everyday life. When the gate opened, there were no models but drones, employed to present the new bags designed by Dolce & Gabbana, protagonists in a collection named Devotion. Thus the ever-present women accessory – in its different color versions – made its appearance transported by drones, giving life to a spectacular opening of the show.
The collection of the famous brand for the season Fall/Winter 2018-19, presented at the Metropol in Milan on the second to last day of Milan fashion week, was one of the most anticipated ones.
Everything was centered on the religious theme, starting from the writing “Fashion Devotion” dominating the large red gate. Similar writings characterized the items of the new collection by Dolce & Gabbana such as Fashion Sinner, Fashion Eden, Fashion is Beauty and Santa Moda. Fashion reviewers said those are the ‘must-have’ clothing items of next Season.
After the new bag Devotion, guepière and bustier gowns appeared on the catwalk suggesting an intriguing and mischievous play where transparencies were not lacking. These sexy clothes were accompanied by more modern trendies typical of the street style such as hip hop tracksuits, multicolor sneakers, embroidered bomber jackets and embellished maxi furs. There were, thus, also proposals that mixed sacred and profane perfectly together with damask suits, embroidered overcoats, glittering tracksuits and, finally, debut ball gowns.
