During Milan Fashion Week, that took place last February from 20 to 26, Prada runway show stood out with its usual feminist message placed side by side to the use of technological materials. The event characterizing the first day took place on the fifth floor of the new tower, Torre della Fondazione Prada, and many critics defined it as the most intellectual, revolutionary and political show of the whole Fashion Week.

The new collection for next season Fall/Winter 2018-19 was presented by the models in front of a restricted number of guests, among whom there were buyers, celebrities and journalists, in a poorly lit room characterized by glass windows overlooking Milan night. The image that Miuccia Prada wanted to give was that of a woman walking alone in the night. “I think that women should face the night as a political act. Freedom should be a fact”, pointed out the creative director of the famous brand.

Prada show was also characterized by technical materials such as nylon and neoprene on fluorescent colors (green, fuchsia, yellow), symbols of freedom, in particular the freedom to wear sexy clothes in the night without fearing aggressions and violence. Bizarre combinations were not lacking, for example in the mixing of waterproof materials and tulle. Oversize for outwears ruled surely the roost. Obviously, the inevitable symbols of femininity were also present, such as shoe heels, tears, necklines and slips.

Another innovation was represented by the model opening the show, the Sudanese Anok Yai; it was the first time since 1997 that a black model inaugurated Prada catwalk after Naomi Campbell.
